Yurii Nesterov
A Francqui Chair 2012 was awarded by ULg to Yurii Nesterov. He will give a set of lectures entitled Complexity and Simplicity of Optimization Problems. The inaugural lecture will be held on February 17, 2012 at ULg.

On 14 December, DNAlytics received the first prize -Innovation Award- of the 4th edition of the Microsoft Innovation Center Boostcamp (4th edition). The ceremony took place at Louvain-la-Neuve in the presence of Jean-Claude Marcourt, vice-president of Wallonia and Walloon Minister of Economy.

A group of researchers (J. De Vos, C. Hocquet, F. Botman and F. Durvaux) from ICTEAM lead by David Bol demonstrated on Silicon an ultra-low-power microcontroller System-on-Chip (SoC) for wireless sensor nodes with a carbon footprint for chip manufacturing 5x lower than the competitors.

Claude Oestges
The paper "Subspace Modeling of Multi-User MIMO Channels" co-authored by Claude Oestges together with colleagues from FTW (Austria) and Stanford University (CA, USA) received the Best Paper Award at the IEEE 74th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2011) held in San Francisco, CA from September 5-8, 2011. This paper is one of the outcomes of the collaborative project PUCCO funded by the Region of Vienna.
