FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions (en anglais) I forgot my « autorisation d’inscription » at home, what can I do? > Ask for a copy of it at the LSM International Office (A009) Where are the LSM computers located and how can I use them? > LSM computers are in the LSM buiding, level -3, entrance "rue de la Lanterne Magique". You will receive a login when registering at the UCL Central Administration Office. Information on how to use the computers can be found in the “Practical information for international students” here above. If necessary call the 78282 Computer help desk from the LSM phone in the “A” corridor, ground floor (free). I have problems with the Wifi. > A help desk is on duty every Friday from 12:30 to 14 :30 in the Socrate Building, in the Atrium of the Faculty of Psychology – in front of the SOCR 030 – level -1. I cannot register to a class on iCampus, what should I do? > Some professors lock the access to their course on iCampus. If you are officially registered to the class, just ask the professor to give you the access. Where do I find the LSM courses time schedule? > On the bulletin board next to the door of the Inernational Office (Room A009) as well as on the LSM web site www.uclouvain.be/10437 => "Horaire LSM - Site de Louvain-la-Neuve" For instance: I have a class on Mondays but no possibility to attend it before October 1; so what about the deadline to hand in my course registration form? > Attend the course on October 1st and hand in your course/exam registration form on Tuesday, October 2nd at the latest. How many classes can I take outside the LSM? > 1 or 2, knowing that you must take a maximum of courses at the LSM. With the agreement of your home institution, of the LSM and of the professor teaching the concerned courses. Reminder : language courses are not included in the 30-25 ECTS required in your programme but we ask you to register for them on your course/exam registration form. You are allowed to take 2 French language courses/term and of the same level (maximum 10 ECTS credits/term; 16 ECTS for the whole year). English, Dutch and Spanish courses are not available to exchange students; for other languages : check directly at ILV. French courses: must I pay for it? > If the French course at ILV is included in your LSM course/exam programme form, it is free of charges. Can I take other language courses? > You have No Access to English, Dutch or Spanish courses. Other languages are open but you will have to pay registration fees at the Central Administration Office as "Elève Libre" (to see with ILV). How can I find classes outside the LSM? > By typing the code or the title of the course you are looking for in « votre recherche » on UCL or LSM website (top of the page). For instance: I have 2 classes overlapping, what can I do? > Choose a similar course when possible. Explain your situation to the concerned professors ; ask them if it’s possible to attend the courses every fortnight and ask a student attending them every week to tell you what has been done the day you were absent. I went to a class and … there was no professor there! > Check the course time schedule and iCampus if there is any information on change of room or of day. If the LSM International Office receives Information on any changes, it will be posted on the right bulletin board outside the office (Room A009). Registration to courses and exams: must I register online? > NO, the LSM international office does it for you! You must only hand in your completed registration form! What about the exams registration? > The LSM international office does it for you! You are allowed to unsubsribe for 1 exam/term. You can re-sit once failed exams. What about the exams? > All exams must be taken at UCL during the exam periods (January, June and August/September). In very specific situations only (referring to your school Academic Calendar or to be discussed case by case if necessary) the exams can be taken from abroad (in your home university only) the same day and at the same time as at UCL. What if I fail an exam? > Should you fail a January exam and you’re going back to your university for the second term, then you will be able to resit from your home university during the June or the August/September exam session. Should second term students (or one year) fail in June, you will be able to resit from your home university during the August/September exam session. You have 2 possibilities to take an exam during the same academic year. Attention: Do not forget to register for re-sitting exams (by sending an E-mail to the LSM International Office). What results do I need to pass an exam? > You need to obtain 10/20 for each exam which is the minimum passing grade. You don't need an average of 60%. When will I receive my results? > Your results are available at the end of the exam period on "My Office" (UCL Intranet). Two official transcripts of records are sent to your home university (one for them and one for yourself) in the following weeks after the exam periods. Very important: Please check and use regularly your UCL E-mail address!
