« Réflexions sur la détention transfrontalière des titres financiers » par Philipp Paech

Dr. Philipp Paech is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Law and Finance, Frankfurt, and a National Expert at the European Commission. He is member of the Frankfurt bar and Visiting Professor at Tokyo University. Specializing in the field of financial markets, in particular in post-trading activities regarding investment securities, he has published widely. Since January 2007, he has been acting as secretary of the EU Clearing and Settlement Legal Certainty Group of the European Commission. Previously, after joining the Association of German Banks in Berlin in 2002, he was a member of the UNIDROIT Secretariat in Rome. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Bonn and a Diplôme d'Etudes Européennes from the University of Toulouse.

« State aid and the Commission's response in the face of the financial and economic crisis », « Les aides d'Etat et la réponse de la Commission face à la crise économique et financière » par Koen Van de Casteele, chef d'unité adjoint à la direction générale de la concurrence à la Commission européenne.

Koen Van de Casteele is deputy head of unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition. Since September 2005, he has been working for DG COMP’s State aid Support Unit. From December 2001 to September 2005, he worked in DG COMP’s unit for State Aid Policy. Before that, he worked at the Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture where he was involved in agricultural competition law. Prior to his work at the Commission, he was a senior associate in the Business and Finance Department of De Bandt, van Hecke & Lagae (now Linklaters De Bandt) in Brussels and London.

« Le processus décisionnel dans l'espace de « Liberté, sécurité et justice » : l'exemple des droits procéduraux. » par Steven Cras, administrateur au secrétariat-général du Conseil de l'Union européenne, DG H 2B, Coopération judiciaire en matière pénale.

Steven Cras travaille depuis 2001 au secrétariat-général du Conseil à Bruxelles, depuis janvier 2007 dans le domaine de la coopération judiciaire en matière pénale. Il a fait des études de droit à l'université d’Utrecht (Pays-Bas) et au collège d'Europe à Bruges. Avant d'assumer ses fonctions à Bruxelles, il a travaillé pendant 6 ans comme référendaire au Tribunal de première instance des Communautés européennes à Luxembourg.

« EC environmental Law: 30 years protecting Europe's environment » par  Esther Pozo Vera, DG ENV Official.

Esther Pozo Vera is a lawyer and political scientist specialized on EC and International environmental law. She earned her LLM on European legal studies at the College of Europe in Bruges. For six years she worked for Milieu Ltd providing consultancy services on environmental legislation and policy to the European Commission and other international organizations such as the World Bank, FAO or UNECE. She currently works for DG Environment.
