Sunni-Shi a Contemporary relations
The conference, which is jointly organized by the CISMOC/CISCOW (Catholic University of Louvain) and the MENARG (University of Ghent) in collaboration with the Egmont Institute (Brussels), aims to shed light on the political, sociological and ideological processes that are affecting the relationships between the Shi‘i and the Sunni worlds.
The conference will deal with the ideological and doctrinal evolutions that are taking place within the two main branches of Islam, as well as the political practices of the protagonists in their environment, the transnational networks, and the role of the intellectuals, religious scholars and the transnational protagonists who talk about this relationship.
