• Post-doc project (August 1998-February 1999): Improving Text Quality in Two Languages “ The role of linguistic markers of text structure" (Marie Curie fellowship funded by the E.U. at the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics, Utrecht University )

• Research project (2003-2008) in collaboration with Yves Bestgen, Sylviane Granger, Fanny Meunier and Jean Klein (all UCL): Foreign language learning: Phraseology and Discourse". (funded by the Communauté française de Belgique, projet d'Action de Recherches Concertées). Within this research Yves Bestgen and I were in charge of the project: Global discourse markers in L1 and L2 writing; researchers: Sophie Pierard, Susanne Hempel.

• Research project (2007-2011) in collaboration with the Universities of Antwerpen, Leuven, Gent, Hannover, and The Royal Museum of Central Africa: Grammaticalization - New perspectives (funded by Belgian Federal Governement, Pôle d'attraction interuniversitaire). Within this research network, I am in charge (with colleages from Ghent and Hannover) for the workpackage on discourse particles .
