Interest

I obtained a master in Psychology (Neuropsychology) in 2003 at the Université catholique de Louvain ( U.C.L., Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium).
I started a Ph.D. in the Cognitive Neuroscience (U.C.L. - NESC) and Clinical Psychology (U.C.L. - ECSA) Units.
I achieved my Ph.D. in 2008 and I am now a post-doctoral fellow working in Pr. Pierre Philippot's lab until october 2011.

The main aim of our work is to lead, on the basis of behavioural, electrophysiological and fMRI studies, to a better understanding of the emotional and executive impairments observed in chronic alcoholism. Originally focused on the exploration, by means of event-related potentials (ERP), of the emotional facial expression (EFE) decoding deficit in alcoholism, our studies now aim at exploring :

(1) Other aspects of emotion decoding (e.g. emotional prosody, postures, crossmodality) and interactions between cognitive and emotional processing in alcoholism, in collaboration with Salvatore Campanella (University of Brussels), Frédéric Joassin (UCL), Xavier Noël (University of Brussels) and Pr. Philippe de Timary (UCL)

(2) Interactions between alcoholism and its psychiatric comorbidities (e.g. depression, anxiety, PTSD), in collaboration with Mandy Rossignol (UCL).

(3) Sub-clinical alcoholism (i.e. binge drinking) among adolescents and young adults, on one hand concerning the behavioral and cerebral consequences of this habit, in collaboration with Salvatore Campanella, Frédéric Joassin and Mauro Pesenti (UCL), and on the other hand concerning its epidemiological aspects, in collaboration with Pr. Vincent Lorant, Pablo Nicaise and Pr. Stephan VandenBroucke (UCL).

(4) Interpersonal and social repercussions of alcoholism (e.g. empathy, social rejection), in collaboration with Pr. Olivier Luminet, Pr. Olivier Corneille, Pr. Philippe de Timary, Nicolas Vermeulen, Moïra Mikolajczak, and Delphine Grynberg (UCL).

(5) Olfactory event-related potentials impairments in alcoholism, in collaboration with Pr. Philippe Rombaux (UCL), Pr. Philippe de Timary and Christophe Callot (UCL).

(6) Similarities and differences in ERP deficits between alcoholism and other psychiatric states, in collaboration with Dr. Christophe Geus and Geneviève Lefebvre (St Pierre Hospital, Ottignies, Belgium).

(7) Electrophysiological, emotional and executive alterations associated with Korsakoff's syndrome, in collaboration with Christine Gilson (Dave Psychiatric Hospital).
We also developed research collaborations with :

- The Voice Neurocognition Lab (VNL), directed by Pr. Pascal Belin (University of Glasgow, Scotland): fMRI correlates of prosody processing in binge driking.

- The Functional Neuroscience and Pathologies Lab (LNFP), directed by Pr. Henrique Sequeira (University of Lille, France): Crossmodality and peripheral vision in alcoholism (in collaboration with Fabien D'Hondt).
