- Centre for Systems Engineering and Applied Mechanics (CESAME)
CESAME is a research centre of the Engineering School of Louvain (EPL) at the Université catholique de Louvain that was created in 1991. Its main research activity domains are mathematical modelling, numerical simulation and dynamical control of complex systems. CESAME is essentially made up of members from the departments of Mathematical Engineering (INMA) and Mechanical Engineering (MECA), plus a limited number of associate members from other departments or other Belgian universities.
The three missions of CESAME are :
- to promote scientific research in the areas of mathematical modelling, numerical simulation and dynamical control of complex systems;
- to guarantee the technology transfer in these areas;
- to train PhD students through graduate courses, seminars, joint workshops and interaction with international scientists.
- Centre for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE)
CORE is an institute for interdisciplinary research, situated in Louvain-la-Neuve and created in 1966, with support from the Ford Foundation. It is financed by the Université catholique de Louvain and by outside research contracts. The institute is active in the fields of economic theory and game theory, operations research and econometrics.
The missions of CORE are :
- development and implementation of knowledge, at the most advanced level, in the fields of economics, management and decision sciences;
- establishment of a forum for scientific exchange and cooperation at international and interuniversity level;
- training of young researchers in these fields, in order to ensure continuity in the scientific cadre and diffusion of knowledge in the relevant professional circles in both the private and the public sectors.
- Institut de Mathématiques pures et appliquées (MAPA)
Cet institut regroupe tous les mathématiciens de l'UCL. Il gère notamment le DEA interuniversitaire pour le département, la liste des professeurs invités ainsi que le Colloquium MAPA.
