Projets au niveau européenFELICIE (Future Elderly Living Conditions in Europe)
THESIM (Towards Harmonised European Statistics on International Migration)Date de début : Avril 2004 The European Union faces an urgent need for better statistics on migration and asylum to support the development of a common EU migration policy. The forthcoming EU Regulation on international migration and asylum statistics will be voted on by the European Parliament in order to improve statistical data collection in terms of availability, reliability and comparability. Within the EU's 6th Framework Programme for Research, the THESIM project was selected in order to support the implementation of this regulation and to help individual country to fulfil their task in relation with the regulation. THESIM is an acronym for Towards Harmonised European Statistics on International Migration. The project started in April 2004 and ended in August 2005. It involved 7 different scientific teams from 7 different EU countries under the co-ordination of Michel Poulain (Belgium). AKEA (Health aging : Increasing longevity and gender issuses. A challenge for tomorrow’s European population)Date de début : août 2002 AKEA is derived from the expression " a kent'annos", a traditional greeting in Sardinia that means "health and life till 100 years. This wish is becoming real as one out of two Europeans born today will probably live 100 years. Elderly females are more and more numerous but surviving males are on average more healthy. These well established scientific facts are the starting point of this proposal. A population with scientifically proved extraordinary longevity and a sex ratio close to one among the oldest will be studied by incorporating the efforts of European scientists from various disciplines. Thereafter these results will be implemented in the whole European population. Appropriate scenarios and forecasts will be developed in order to involve policy-makers, elderly associations and health and social care institutions in a fruitful debate during a European Forum.
