LDROP 2181 World Trade Organization Law

Colin Brown is a trade and investment lawyer with the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission. Since joining the European Commission in 2001 he has litigated cases before the WTO, the Court of Justice of the European Union and the General Court of the European Union. He has given legal advice on  EU bilateral relations (in particular the EPAs and the EU-Korea FTA), trade and energy, trade and environment, international public procurement, investment and EU institutional issues.  Prior to joining the European Commission he worked on trade law issues in private practice in Brussels. He has been chair of the Legal Advisory Committee of the Energy Charter Treaty since January 2004 and a visiting lecturer in WTO law at UCL since 2009-2010.

 He holds an LLB (first class Honours) from the Faculty of Law of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, a Diploma in International Relations from the Bologna Center of the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, Bologna, Italy and an LLM in European Law from the College of Europe, Bruges.  He is a member of the New York Bar.
