At both Louvain-la-Neuve and Brussels, UCL has devised an original living environment, between nature and urban life. Housing, convenience stores, sports and culture, and fun are at the heart of student life.
Two campuses at the hear of Europa
Louvain-la-Neuve is located 25 minutes by car from the centre of Brussels. Rapid and varied means of transport put most European capitals less than three hours away. In Brussels, the medical campus is integrated in a new and pleasant neighbourhood where frequent and rapid underground connections put the famous Grand Place only a few steps away.
Pedestrianised and green
Louvain-la-Neuve is a modern town of more than 28,000 inhabitants. People get around on foot and one is never far from the woods and fields. A few steps away, one of Belgium’s beautiful forests begins, the Bois de Lauzelle. Down the hill, a lake invites people to walk or exercise around it. Louvain-la- Neuve also hosts one of the largest sporting complexes in Benelux, which every year adds new sporting activities to its calendar.
On the Brussels campus, the Garden of Sculptures and the Botanical Gardens are some of the beautiful green spots of the capital and the Woluwé sporting complex offers a wide range of activities.
A buoyant culture
The university is located on two campuses and initiates a number of cultural activities. In addition to the cultural programme (theatre
performances, concerts, exhibitions, cinema), student activities, musical afternoons and literary evenings, sports competitions, a wide range of debates, street parades and entertainment are organised, feeding the imagination and creative spirit.
Commitment, participation, exchange
University life is social. Student organisations, local associations, sporting, social, cultural, musical and parochial organisations create a network of solidarity and exchange between the inhabitants and students.
Students are particularly active in all areas of university life. Catalysts of change, they make themselves heard through the General Assembly of Students (AGL) and the Foreign Students Forum (CGEE).
Student life is organized around the «kots-à-projets», or housing decicated to student projects, the student unions, which bring students of a single faculty together, projects of solidarity, the student radio station, the Junior Enterprises, etc.
