The preliminary steps (eg, obtaining funding, scholarship, mandate, ... - visa for foreign applicants, etc.) will not be explained here. All this information must be taken from the relevant departments.

Introduction of the request of admission |
The PhD-candidate and the promotor complete the application form and forward it to the secretariat.

Examination of the request |
Review by a member of the local commission. The opinion of that member shall be forwarded to the local commission and the CDD-Santé, it decides whether to grant a (provisional) admission to the PhD-applicant. |

Outcome of the application |
The secretariat informs the applicant about the decision : reject, provisional admission or admission. |

Registration at the University |
The PhD-applicant shall enroll and complete the payment of school fees to the service concerned.
ATTENTION : at each academic year, an automatic ré-inscription will be done (with payment of the school fee) |
| 5 |
Meeting of steering committee

The student and the steering committee interact at least once a year.
ATTENTION : when a meeting date is set, the student MUST inform the secretariat and SHALL provide the appropriate form (that is used for according training credits.)

Confirmation test |
Within a maximum period of 24 months from the date of admission to the PhD, the student must present the confirmation test. An additional member must be added to the steering committee.
ATTENTION : when a meeting date is set, the student MUST inform the secretariat and SHALL provide the appropriate form (that is used for according training credits.)

Authorization for writing the thesis and constitution of the jury |
In a final meeting between the student and the steering committee, permission to write the thesis is given. The PhD or its promotor transmit to the Secretariat the proposed composition of the jury (with, among others, full details of the external members). |

Validation of the jury by the Rector |
The Secretariat informs the student and the promotor of the validation (or not) of the jury by the Rector. |

Private defense |
The PhD student defend his thesis. All the members of the jury MUST be present. |

Electronic encoding of the thesis |
The Secretariat shall inform the student of the steps to take in this context. |
| 12 |
Public defense |
Is planned at least one month after the private defense. |
| 13 |
Diploma |
Once the diploma is signed by the Rector, the secretariat shall inform the student. |
