Biography

Bas van Wesemael has a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of Amsterdam. He was previously senior lecturer at Middlesex University (UK) and post doctoral research fellow at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) in the framework of an EU sponsored project (MEDALUS II). He is the author of more than 30 scientific papers and book chapters. He is one of the contractors in an EU 6th framework project on conditions for restoration and mitigation of desertification using vegetation (Recondes), and has participated in several international research projects such as an EU project on desertification (Medalus) a NATO Collaborative Research Project and a British Council Research Grant. He is the coordinator of a Belgian federal research project on greenhouse gas emissions from terrestrial ecosystems (Metage).
