6th CEMS Research Seminar, Riezlern, 4-8 February 2009

Supply Chain Management – Recent Trends and Future Perspectives

February 4 - 8, 2009
Haus Bergkranz, Riezlern, Austria

Supply chains in today’s world oftentimes span the whole planet, with components for final goods produced in different countries and continents. The separate entities involved need to be carefully set up and run. Furthermore, the links between them have to be organized professionally. This cannot be realized without elaborated information exchange. There are many open research questions in these areas coming from many different disciplines. Supply chain management is a crucial success factor for businesses so that education for future employees –as e.g. offered by the CEMS schools – now commonly includes SCM courses. Building on the successful previous seminars, we again invite interesting and ambitious quantitative as well as qualitative research contributions on SCM.
We are looking forward to plenary presentations of particularly PhD students and young researchers. Especially PhD students are encouraged to take the opportunity to discuss open questions in their research and get feedback from the other participants.

Research methods used may be quantitative modelling (stochastic, deterministic, simulation), quantitative empirical or of a more qualitative nature. Topics may cover various aspects of SCM, including (but not limited to):

- Supply Chain Collaboration
- Outsourcing supply chain activities
- Transportation
- Supply chain improvement concepts
- Supply chain planning
- Procurement
- Warehousing, materials handling
- Inventory Management
- The evolving role of LSPs
- Reverse logistics
- Information aspects of SCM

Next to the scientific element, the second seminar objective is to meet European colleagues in a more informal environment with ample opportunity to be active in a sportily manner.
