Degree:
1990: PhD in psychology, Université catholique de Louvain (UCL)
Research interests:
My research is mainly concerned with social cognition, attribution, stereotyping, and intergroup relations. After my early work on the Black Sheep effect and the Ingroup Overexclusion effect, I developped an interest in stereotyping and more specifically in the formation and preservation of stereotypes as well as their suppression. More recently, I studied group perception, examining aspects of homogeneity, entitativity, and essentialism. Along with several colleagues, I also initiated a program of research on social, i.e. group-based, emotions. I have always been intrigued by issues of data analysis and statistics. Recently, I focused on problems associated with the analysis of covariance. I also collaborated on a review paper about the use of moderated mediation and mediated moderation in psychology.
Keywords: social cognition, stereotypes and stereotyping, intergroup relations, judgeability, entitativity, essentialism, group-based emotions, ANCOVA, mediation, moderation
