The Université catholique de Louvain is looking for a full-time specialist in
Quantitative and operational energy economics
(GDF-SUEZ Chair)

Applicants must show a genuine interest for the development of quantitative energy economics models relevant for business application. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, market simulation and risk management models in the gas and electricity utilities, climate change, and energy consuming sectors. Willingness to follow the evolution of institutions and energy policy matters in the European energy scene is also essential.
Depending on the background of the candidate; teaching can include courses in energy economics, optimization, and mathematical finance. The candidate will help develop an interdisciplinary program in quantitative energy economics at the master level.
The selected candidate will be a member of «Center for Operations Research and Econometrics» (CORE) of the « Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Quantitative Modelling and Analysis » (IMMAQ).

General Conditions
Task : The applicant will
-
be responsible for teaching courses at all the study levels (i.e. undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate), as well as in programmes of continuing education;
-
supervise the final diploma work (i.e. master thesis) of graduate students, as well as PhD theses;
-
be involved in (and/or supervise, promote) research programmes;
-
contribute to the international visibility of the University through teaching and research excellence;
-
participate in research projects in the field of development cooperation (if such opportunities exist).
Qualifications : The applicant must have
-
a PhD degree in a relevant discipline, including economics, operations research, applied mathematics, mathematical finance, and business or in a interdisciplinary academic field covering some of these aspects;
-
a significant scientific record evidenced by international publications ;
-
either studied abroad for an extensive period or had substantial experience outside UCL ;
-
experience in and aptitude for teaching at university level ;
-
the capacity to work within a team of teachers and to integrate research findings in their courses;
-
creativity and must be open to pedagogic innovation and interdisciplinarity;
-
the capacities required to undertake academic research at a high level and to advise, or lead, a research team;
-
the capacity to teach in French. If this is not the case, the applicant should be able to teach in English and accept to learn French within two years.
