RESEARCH OVERVIEW

Research activity in the laboratory focuses on degradation of membrane proteins by the ubiquitin-proteasome system in yeast. We combine genetic and biochemical approaches to understand the role of the chaperone Cdc48p/Npl4p/Ufd1p complex, which releases non native membrane proteins from the ER and transfer them to the proteasome for degradation, through the ERAD pathway. In particular, we are studying the role of novel proteins interacting with Cdc48p.
