The University (Université catholique de Louvain - UCL) houses most of the LSM students in Louvain-la-Neuve, where they benefit from the resources, cultural activities and diversity of a dedicated university town.
Louvain-la-Neuve is located 20 minutes from Brussels, the political capital of the European Union.
For UCL’s 20 000 students and a current but constantly growing population of 13 000, Louvain-la-Neuve, or “LLN”, offers an excellent range of cultural and leisure activities and services: live theatre, music, sports clubs and a broad selection of stores and services as well as a shopping mall. A unique architectural concept gives the priority to pedestrians in Louvain-la-Neuve’s centre, making it extraordinarily pleasant to live in. An impressive number of research centres and scientific activities have grown up around Louvain-la-Neuve’s central core. There is an increasing number of companies in the Science Park, some of them spinoffs of UCL research. Other companies such as IBA Abbott, Albemarle, KPMG, Lhoist, McKinsey, Nissan, Pfizer, Tractebel have also established their research centres here.
An LSM degree is a key ingredient for success both nationally and internationally.
LSM Alumni are in every sphere of top management. If you look up the 20 companies which make up the reference in the Belgian financial market, the Bel 20, 7 of the top managers are alumni. Over 95% of our 2010 graduates got a job within 3 months of graduation.
Successful businesspeople need more than brains that are fed with useful information, so we ensure that students are able to develop quality interpersonal relationships. Learning to manage social and personal skills and confronting the societal responsibilities inherent in a company are core elements of our programmes. The goal is to guide our students towards their professional fulfilment.
A compass as a multipurpose tool This competency framework sets common core competencies expected from all graduates of Masters in Management (120 credits) and Masters in Business Engineering (120 credits), beyond the specific disciplines of these two programmes, and the options and paths selected, by the student. It defines the exit profile of all LSM graduates. It outlines the objectives to be reached by the LSM graduates at the end of his studies, the educators objectives in determining the study programme, and indicates the student’s learning programme. www.lsmcompetencyframework.be
