How to get to the campus of Louvain-la-Neuve?

If you arrive by car:

Louvain-la-Neuve is located off highway E411. From Brussels or Namur, get off at EXIT 8a. You will arrive at a roundabout situated on the National 4.

  • For CORE: turn left on National 4 till the next roundabout, then turn right (1st output), you are on "Boulevard Baudouin 1er". Go straight till the second traffic circle and turn right (1st output), you are on "Boulevard du Sud". Go straight (pass the traffic circle and the bus station on your left) till parking "Grand'Rue" (stay in the "blue" section at floor -2). Parkings are underground. Get off the parking by stairs or elevator, and turn left, you are in Traverse d'Esope. CORE is located on the corner of "Traverse d'Esope" and "Voie du Roman Pays". Louvain-la-Neuve is a pedestrian town.
  • For the Hotel MERCURE: turn right on National 4 to the next roundabout, take the 3rd output (you are on "avenue de Lauzelle"); go straight to the roundabout, the Hotel MERCURE will be on avenue de Lauzelle on your right hand.

Most parkings are now paying (keep your ticket)
Free parking for everybody (Parking accessible à tous) : Boulevard de Lauzelle, Boulevard Baudouin I and Rédimé (10 min walk from CORE)
UCL parkings : only for university members and students
CAREFUL : Do not forget your DISK for non paying parkings in Louvain-la-Neuve (2 hours max)

If you arrive by plane:

 

1) Brussels National Airport (Zaventem) is linked to Brussels by a train service: 4 trains/hour between 5.30 a.m. and 12 p.m. during weekdays and between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. during week-ends (about 15'). Ask for a ticket to "Louvain-la-Neuve Université" (NOT Louvain or Leuven) and get off at the station Brussels Nord (a 12-15 min. ride). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (trains every half hour, week-end included), get off at Ottignies (about 35') and switch to a train to Louvain-la-Neuve (about 8'). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but take more time. CORE is located about 2 min. walk from the railway station (area map ).

2) Brussels South Charleroi Airport 
- The best way to reach Louvain-la-Neuve is to take a bus from the airport (Bus A) to reach the Charleroi South station (about 15'). There are 2 busses/hour during weekdays (..h20 and ..h50) and 1 bus/hour during week-ends (..h40). Then ask for a ticket to "Louvain-la-Neuve Université" (NOT Louvain or Leuven), you should aim between 1h and 1h30 to reach Louvain-la-Neuve. CORE is located about 2 min. walk from the railway station (area map ).

- At the airport, there is also a shuttle (every 30') that will go to Brussels South station (about 50'). At the station, ask for a ticket to "Louvain-la-Neuve Université" (NOT Louvain or Leuven). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (trains every half hour, week-end included), get off at Ottignies (about 35') and switch to a train to Louvain-la-Neuve (about 8'). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but take more time. CORE is located about 2 min. walk from the railway station (area map ).

If you arrive by train:

 

Starting from any train station in Brussels, ask for a ticket to "Louvain-la-Neuve Université" (NOT Louvain or Leuven). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (trains every half hour, week-end included), get off at Ottignies (about 35 min.) and switch to a train to Louvain-la-Neuve (about 8 min.). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but take more time. CORE is located about 2 min. walk from the railway station (more precisely, the station is half undergound):
- get out of the train, walk back on the platform (ie opposite to the direction where the train was heading to)
- take the COVERED stairs at the end of the platform (not the uncovered stairs that you see first)
- you arrive on a street, turn left, walk 10 to 30 meters (depending on which platform you come from)
- take the street on the right (Voie du Roman Pays), CORE entrance is at the next corner to the right (a little to the right and a little down)
- go to floor 1 (by the elevator) and the information office (Mrs Catherine Germain)

If you arrive by bus:

 

Buses from TEC serve Louvain-la-Neuve from Bruxelles, Ottignies, Wavre and some other surroundings.

  • Bus 20 carries out the connection from Ottignies and Wavre to Louvain-la-Neuve;
  • Rapido Bus 1 carries out the connection from Jodoigne to Ottignies without stop between Thorembais-Saint-Trond and Louvain-la-Neuve;
  • Rapido Bus 3 carries out the connection from Waterloo to Louvain-la-Neuve via Ohain, Céroux and Ottignies;
  • Rapido Bus 4 carries out from Nivelles (station) to Louvain-la-Neuve via Nivelles (zoning);
  • Conforto carries out from Ixelles (plaine des manoeuvres, gare d'Etterbeek) to Louvain-la-Neuve via Delta (subway station) and Wavre (station).
