GRADUATE SCHOOL IN STATISTICS AND ACTUARIAL SCIENCES (Communauté Wallonie-Bruxelles)

OBJECTIVES :

The Graduate School in Statistics and Actuarial Sciences is providing the ideal forum for contact and collaboration between all doctoral researchers - our PhD students and their thesis advisors - in areas related to statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, biometrics, psychometrics, or related to actuarial sciences.

The interuniversity school provides an advanced training in the different areas of theoritical an applied methods used in statistics/actuarial sciences and is hence highly interdisciplinary.  This training is achieved by :

  • regular research seminars series
  • regular short courses, given mostly by visiting professors from abroad, internationally recognized experts in their field
  • summer schools regrouping a number of international visitors in interact with our students
  • a stimulating scientific environment, enabling international exchanges and initiating our students to present their research results on behalf of seminar series, workshops and international congresses.

The school is open to all universities of the Belgian French speaking community organizing a doctoral program in statistics/actuarial sciences.  It will provide to the students of these universities the possibility to follow a quality doctoral training, leading to a doctoral research training certificate recognized by the F.N.R.S. Students visitors from ouside the community and from abroad are welcome to benefit from our activities.
