5th CEMS Research Seminar 2008: Recent Trends and Future Perspectives

Many supply chains operate in a global arena. It is not uncommon for a company to develop a new product in the United States, source and manufacture it in Asia, and distribute and market it in the US, Asia and Europe.
Co-operation with globally spread partners is not a simple issue. It requires common goals, mindsets and mutual trust. Innovative ideas and concepts are necessary to overcome these obstacles. SCM is a topic that receives an increasing interest in both research and education within the CEMS schools. Building on the successful previous seminars, we again invite interesting and ambitious quantitative as well as qualitative research contributions on SCM.

The idea is to have plenary presentations of particularly PhD students and young researchers on finished research in SCM. Research methods used may be quantitative modelling (stochastic, deterministic, simulation), quantitative empirical or of a more qualitative nature. Topics may cover various aspects of SCM, including (but not limited to):

    * Partnering in supply chains
    * Outsourcing & Offshoring supply chain activities
    * Transportation
    * Supply chain improvement concepts
    * Supply chain planning
    * Procurement
    * Warehousing, materials handling
    * Inventory management
    * The role of evolving LSPs
    * Reverse logistics
    * Information aspects of SCMNext to the scientific element, the second seminar objective is to meet European colleagues in a more informal environment with ample opportunity to be active in a sportily manner.
