The themes considered are regularly renewed. In recent years, topics have included Barthélemy l'Anglais, Thomas de Cantimpré (both authors of encyclopedic works), the tradition of Latin and vernacular bestiaries, and the work of Albert le Grand.
Teaching methods
The courses are based on a folder of ad hoc documents and references (syllabus), and draw on the evidence of texts and iconography. Examples of manuscript pages are provided for analysis. One or two sessions are led by guest specialists. Powerpoint presentations are made available on the course's Moodle site.
