Economics School of Louvain

Economics, is about analyzing and making propositions for action. An Economist is interested in economic systems. He wonders about policies and choices in allocating public resources. He is curious about the world and feels concerned about its problems. He apprehends the world in terms of commercial, financial and human flows. He thinks in terms of development, innovations and global strategy. He observes facts and questions statistics. He uses tools for analysis, models and pushes back the limits of knowledge. He seeks for a balance between intuition and rationality.

In order to achieve these objectives, our department offers:

a teaching of high quality by professors who listen to and are available to students,
well balanced teaching programs,
a stimulating and multicultural environment,
in a internationaly renowned department recognized for the quality of its research.

		> Top 3% Award In 2011 Maastricht University organised for the fourth year the “Top 3% Award” to attract, encourage and stimulate talented students. This year was a success for the Economics School of Louvain (ESL), since the only student sent to Maastricht for the Double Degree Master Progam in Economics, Thomas Jeegers, was granted this prestigious award! Each year, the Top 3% of students among the University of Maastricht receive a certificate and a grant equivalent to the tuition fees of their academic year. >From now on the dutch university is thinking of a different format for the award, but is convinced in willing to keep incentives for attracting talented students. The high international ranking of the Economics School of Louvain leaves to believe that this award is certainly not the last to be granted to ESL students. [2/12/2011 > more]
