H2M children

The H2M Children (Hard-t(w)o-Manage Children) research programme focuses on the early diagnosis of behavioural disorders such as fidgetiness, disobedience, tantrums, impulsiveness and aggressiveness in preschoolers. Through a multidisciplinary approach combining the psychology of language, neuropsychology, the psychology of education and clinical psychology, the programme seeks to determine the causes of these behavioural disorders. It then asks what early help might be given these children, their families, teachers and educators.

A first part of the research program was conducted from 2004 to 2009. The focus was on early diagnostic and relations between externalizing behavior and several factors as attachment, parenting, language and executive functions.

A second part will be conducted from 2011 to 2016. Its main objective is to test the causative pathways between cognitive factors (inhibition and social cognition in particular) and parenting (childrearing and communication), and externalizing behavior. Evidence-based interventions will aslo be conducted among children and their parents.
