UCL is a research intensive university with a strong international recruitment policy. Nearly one fifth of our students come from abroad, representing over 122 nationalities from five different continents. In addition, UCL hosts many international staff members and welcomes international visitors from all over the world. Currently, one in three newly recruited academic staff members come from abroad. This cosmopolitan spirit is also nurtured by the Belgian students: about one out of four UCL graduates includes a stay in a foreign institution in their study programme.

With Brussels as European capital, Belgium is a true international cross-road and home to a large expat community. It is a small, peaceful country with a high standard of living and many other assets. Did you know that, according to a recent survey of the European Commission, Belgium is the third happiest country in Europe?

UCL itself is very conveniently situated in the Brussels Metropolitan Area, at the very heart of Europe. Its central location will allow you to travel to most major European cities within three hours.
