Leyssens Group

The main focus of the Leyssens Research group lies in the field of Crystal Engineering. Besides this main topic, some other research projects concerning mechanistic studies of chemical reactions are also ongoing.

From a physico-chemical point of view, we are interested in understanding and developing crystallization processes, bringing from an early stage lab-scale up to industrial scale. To this goal we specialize in solid state studies (polymorphism, solvates, cocrystals, ...), phase diagrams, as well as an online understanding and upscaling of the crystallization process for the final selected crystal form. More specifically, we are trying to add a second (or third) component into the crystal structure of an active pharmaceutical compound to alter properties such as bioavailability, solubility, ...

From a chemical point of view we are currently developing our interest in the understanding of homogeneous catalytic cycles, with the goal to optimize these cycles.

More details concerning the group, as well as the research being developed can be found on the different web pages.  The site is under development ... but feel free to already have a look.
