Prerequisites
Concepts and tools equivalent to those taught in the EU LSTAT2020
Basic notions of descriptive statistics, inference and statistical modeling
 
Main themes
Introduction to the SAS system, SAS tools and SAS/Base programming
Creating and manipulating data files in SAS (importing, defining formats, merging tables, manipulating, creating and transforming variables)
Preparing data summary tables, producing reports in various formats (text, html)
Performing basic statistical analyses: descriptive statistics, frequency tables, simple statistical procedures, basic graphics
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 A. With regard to the AA framework of the Master's program in statistics, general orientation, this activity contributes to the development and acquisition of the following AAs:
  • Primary: 5.3
  • Secondary: 1.3, 2.2, 3.3
With regard to the AA repository of the Master's program in statistics, biostatistics orientation, this activity contributes to the development and acquisition of the following AA:
as a priority: 3.5
secondary: 1.3, 2.2, 3.3.
B. At the end of this course, students will have learned to program with the BASE module of SAS software, and will be able to apply their skills to large databases.
 
Content
This course offers a progressive introduction to the use of SAS software for data management, analysis, and modeling. It is intended for students who wish to acquire practical skills in applied statistics and SAS programming.
Teaching methods
In addition to the lectures and computer room exercises, much of the training is done autonomously using the slidess, SAS documentation, and e-learning tools provided by SAS.
Evaluation methods
The examination of this course consists of a written computer-based examination.
Other information
A large part of the training is carried out autonomously using materials available on the SAS website (SCYP program). This course is only open to students enrolled and with a good command of passive English.
