Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Contribution of learning unit to learning outcomes assigned to programme
This unit contributes to the acquisition and development of the following learning outcomes, as assigned to the Master's degree in interpreting : 1.2, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 5.8, 6.1.
Specific learning outcomes at the end of the learning unit
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to:
  1. understand oral speech (in French, level C2+) or signed speech (in French Sign Language, level C1) incorporating specialized terminology, particularly in the legal, sociocultural, linguistic, and educational fields;
  2. prepare and deliver a specialized speech, in French (level C2+) or in French Sign Language (level C1), appropriately using the jargon specific to the disciplines covered (legal, sociocultural, linguistic, and educational);
  3. reproduce specialized terminology in French Sign Language using highly iconic structures or paraphrases adapted to professional or academic contexts;
  4. reproduce signed speech in French, respecting the terminological equivalents and usage specific to the specialized field;
At the end of the immersion internship, students will report on their learning outcomes through a ten-minute video report in French Belgian Sign Language (LSFB), certifying that they are able to:
  1. present in a concise manner, distinguishing between essential and non-essential aspects, the activities of the host associations and services ;
  2. independently update their language skills by staying informed of terminological developments in French and French Belgian Sign Language (LSFB) in the areas covered;
  3. highlight, through critical thinking and personal reflection, the achievements of the immersion internship in terms of professional, interpersonal, and personal development as a future interpreter.
