At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Contribution of teaching unit to learning outcomes assigned to programme 
This unit contributes to the acquisition and development of the following learning outcomes, as assigned to the Master's degree in translation: 
  • continuously self-evaluate, update and develop competences and skills through personal strategies and collaborative learning and acknowledge the importance of lifelong learning (26 – Personal and Interpersonal); 
  • monitor and take account of new societal and language industry demands, new market requirements and emerging job profiles (27 – Service Provision); 
  • understand and implement the standards applicable to the provision of a language service (32 – Service Provision); 
  • analyse and critically review language services and policies and suggest improvement strategies as an extension to their social and economic responsibility (36 – Service Provision). 
Specific learning outcomes on completion of teaching unit 
On completing this unit the student is able to: 
  • critically synthesise and analyse, both in writing and orally, the main trends in the translation market based on reports published by various industry players, guest lectures and scientific publications; 
  • collect and analyse data on developments in the language services industry, whether through interviews, focus groups or surveys, and record the analyses in a written report.
