Main themes
This course covers three main themes: 1. legal aspects of sport, 2. institutional aspects, 3. economic aspects.
This unit aims to provide an introduction to the sports industry so that students can examine the structure, organisation and relationships within the Belgian and international sports system.
This unit aims to provide an introduction to the fundamental principles of private and public law that influence sport and its administration.
Finally, this unit aims to provide an introduction to economic principles and examines the commercialisation and professionalisation of sport and its impact on the organisation of sport.

Content
This teaching unit covers three dimensions of sport: legal, institutional, and economic. It provides an introduction to the sports industry, allowing students to examine the structure, organization, and relationships within the Belgian and international sports systems. It presents the fundamental principles of private and public law that influence sport and its administration, as well as the economic principles that shed light on the commercialization and professionalization of sport and their effects on its organization.
By the end of the unit, students will be able to identify and explain the institutional relationships between public authorities, the economic sector, and non-profit sports organizations in Belgium, as well as recognize, distinguish, position, and analyze each sports organization within this context. They will be able to explain the fundamental principles of law and distinguish the different legal structures applicable to sport. Finally, they will master the basic economic principles and their influence on the organization and commercialization of sport in Belgium.
