Content
The course aims to provide an overview of the regulations governing the protection of immovable cultural heritage at both the international and national levels. The course begins with a critical examination of the interaction between heritage protection and the law. It then analyzes the issue of immovable cultural heritage protection from an international perspective and in terms of the distribution of jurisdiction. This will enable students to identify the main relevant instruments of international law and to apply the principles and recommendations that govern these areas. Third, the course provides an in-depth examination of the legal framework applicable in the Walloon Region. Finally, emphasis is placed on the differences in Brussels law, as well as a brief overview of Flemish law and the law of the German-speaking Community.
Teaching methods
A lecture course taught by two faculty members, involving active student participation with a focus on the co-creation of knowledge: analysis of case law and case studies
