Students on this programme are mainly education professionals (teachers, adult trainers etc.) who wish to improve their skills. The programme is also open to young graduates (via bridging courses) who would like to continue their training. Bachelors in psychology and education will discover a stimulating environment where techniques are exchanged and skills and knowledge are shared, to which they can contribute their idealism and their critical viewpoint.

1. Basic principles
- The Master in Education is mainly designed for mature students.
- In cooperation with other Faculties at UCL (PSP, ESPO, ISP, FLTR), the programme takes a multidisciplinary approach to education and training issues.
- There is a range of training methods specially adapted for adults. They are designed to enable students to take responsibility for their own learning.

2. Course objectives in terms of skills to be acquired
- To gain understanding of the complex nature of action in the education and training field, through a multidisciplinary approach.
- To develop analysis and intervention skills by effective use of theoretical background, methodological tools and practical situations.
- To develop useful skills for doing research in education.
- To specialize in one of the following areas: continuing education for adults (international programme); psychopedagogy and training of teachers and educational experts; management of socio-educational institutions.

The two focuses for the Master in Education – professional and research – share a similar structure :
- core subjects worth 66 credits ;
- groups of option courses for each focus for 24 credits ;
- special activities for each focus for 30 credits.

The option course Continuing Education for Adults is shared with the Master in Adult Training of the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers – CNAM)and, at a later stage (usually a year afterwards), with the Master in Education (Adult Training) at the University of Geneva.

 

Wathever the focus or the options chosen, the programme of this master shall totalise 120 credits, spread over two years of studies each of 60 credits
