SUMMARY:CEMO monthly seminar
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to invite you to our next seminar\, which will
  take place on June 25th in Pasteur 2\, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.&nbsp\;Our s
peaker will be Mathilde Charlier\, a PhD student (teaching assistant) from
the Group of neuropharmacology (NFAR\, PI: Emmanuel Hermans).Title of the
talk:Involvement of cystine/glutamate exchanger in the development and ma
intenance of chronic painAbstract:&nbsp\;Chronic pain represents a major p
ublic health concern\, as many conventional analgesic treatments show limi
ted efficacy in managing this condition. It is therefore essential to inve
stigate the underlying mechanisms involved in chronic pain development and
maintenance. One hypothesis frequently proposed to explain chronic pain me
chanisms involves disrupted glutamatergic homeostasis\, which contributes
to central sensitization.Several lines of evidence suggest that system xc
−\, a cystine/glutamate antiporter expressed in glial cells\, may partic
ipate in the establishment and/or maintenance of this sensitization by mod
ulating glutamatergic signaling. This seminar will present our recent findi
ngs obtained in a neuropathic pain model using inducible conditional Cre-l
ox mice to genetically delete system xc−\, and will discuss the contribu
tion of this transporter to the mechanisms underlying pain sensitization.T
he seminar will also be available online via Teams:CEMO seminar | Meeting-
