A new chair at our institute!

Last week saw the official launch of the Candriam Chair in “Training Tomorrow's Leaders for Sustainable Impact”, led by Valérie Swaen, chairholder, and Sabrina Courtois, post-doctoral researcher.
From a research perspective, this chair aims to stimulate reflection on how to involve teachers in a dynamic where they are continuously trained to embed ethics, responsibility and sustainability in their courses. In a context where professors are increasingly asked to integrate complex, uncertain, and contested topics into their teaching (climate change, post-growth thinking, ethical dilemmas, student eco-anxiety, etc.), this project outlines how educators can learn together to navigate complexity and interdisciplinarity, and tackle the contested nature of sustainability in the classroom. It will therefore combine research on communities of practice, already begun by Sabrina Courtois during her thesis, with education for sustainability.
The ultimate goal is to use this research to create, supervise and evaluate the implementation of a “teach-the-teacher” programme on sustainability.
