Synergy between MOCA and LIBST-BNTE: a new start for UPC²
Faced to a technical challenge, the complementary nature of analytical platforms and research services can make all the difference.
To upgrade the detection capabilities of its UltraPerformance Convergence Chromatography (UPC²) acquired in 2012, the LIBST-BNTE technical worked in collaboration with the MOCA platform. This collaboration led to the acquisition of a new mass spectrometer (MS, Waters - QDAII) as part of the Plan de Relance and the Energy Transition Platform of Excellence cofunded by the European Union and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, complementing the existing UPC² and providing a more powerful analysis tool.
Thanks to this upgrade, UPC²-MS combines the power of supercritical phase chromatography (SFC) with ultra-sensitive, selective detection.
This technology enables the analysis of low-polarity compounds, isomers or thermolabile substances, with applications in fields such as green chemistry, bioenergy, lipid analysis, polymers or pharmaceuticals.
This example illustrates how an analytical platform can support research teams, offering tailored solutions and strengthening the analytical capabilities available to both academia and industry.
