ChipsWIN is a pioneering initiative supported by the European Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU), co-funded by the European Union under the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) and Wallonia (SPW Recherche).
It has been designed to strengthen the European semiconductor ecosystem through dedicated competence centers.
Led by UCLouvain, Imagine Microelectronics and IGNITY, ChipsWIN bridges the gap between cutting-edge research and industrial deployment, driving innovation, sustainability, and technological sovereignty across Europe.
ChipsWIN connects regional research (UCLouvain, ULiège Microsys, UMONS, Sirris, Materia Nova, CETIC, Multitel, etc.), industrial partners and EU networks (FAMES Pilot Line, APECS, aCCCess, FC3, etc.).
It gives access to cutting-edge technology platforms (WINFAB cleanroom facilities, WELCOME characterization hub, other competence centres, EU Pilot Lines), simulation tools (EU Chips Design Platform), and test/packaging ecosystems to progress from TRL 3 to TRL 6–7.
