Giulia Marino is an architect who graduated from the University of Florence and went on to earn a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. She is a professor at the UCLouvain in Brussels and co-directs the Super-Positions laboratory. From 2023, she will also be a visiting professor at EPFL, where she co-founded the Laboratory for the Techniques and Preservation of Modern Architecture in 2007.

She develops projects within existing structures based on the material history of the building. Her scientific activities focus on two closely intertwined and complementary fields of research: the history of materials, construction techniques, and comfort equipment in the 20^(th) century; and strategies for preserving modern and contemporary heritage.
Her numerous publications and intense scientific promotion activities evidence the interest in her research topics. She is active in international networks and has co-chaired the Docomomo Switzerland association since 2015, while also being a member of ICOMOS.
