Hello !

I am currently enrolled in a PhD program thank to a grant from Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI). I am working under the supervision of Prof. V. Crollen (UCLouvain) and Prof. A. Lochy (UniLu) on the question of word recognition in deaf (>70dB loss, native deaf signers) versus hearing (including FR/LSFB bilinguals) subjects. To compare the two populations, I am collecting data using EEG-FPVS (see Lochy et al., 2015), in collaboration with experts from the University of Luxembourg, to explore how deaf and hearing brains react automatically to printed words. I am also interested in fingerspelling, or the ability to spell words with a manual alphabet specific to one's sign language. Bayesian statistics will also be used to examine data and draw conclusions regarding the representation of words in deaf and hearing people.

You can contact me via my email adress (lucas.rifon@uclouvain.be) if you have any question.
