Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

This unit contributes to the acquisition and development of the following learning outcomes, as assigned to the Master's degree in interpreting : 1.1, 1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 3.4, 6.2, 6.4, 8.6, FS-ILS-2.

Specific learning outcomes at the end of the learning unit
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to:
  1. perform unidirectional interpreting (French-LSFB) in consecutive mode (with or without note-taking) or simultaneous mode, using relevant specialist vocabulary (French, level C2+ and LSFB, level B2+/C1) and ensuring the fluency, accuracy and coherence of the message;
  2. appropriate the content of a speech in French (C2+ level) by identifying the main ideas, communicative intentions, argumentative progression and implicit elements (presuppositions, allusions, intertextuality, etc.);
  3. deliver a fluent, coherent and nuanced discourse in LSFB (level B2+/C1), using linguistic structures appropriate to the communication situation and the target audience;
  4. analyse the cultural and discourse implicit in a source message in French, and propose equivalents adapted to LSFB, while respecting the registers and norms of the target language;
  5.  reflect critically on his/her performance, identifying points to watch out for (additions, omissions, misunderstandings, register) and formulating concrete suggestions for improvement;
  6. use speech preparation strategies (identify specialised sign language and vocabulary, anticipate content), and enrich their LSFB and French vocabularies on a continuous basis.
