Ethical and legal requirements
biul |
The management of certain types of research data requires particular vigilance. This section draws researchers' attention to a number of ethical and legal requirements that may apply to the management of their research data.
The points of attention presented on these pages have not been listed exhaustively. It is up to each researcher to examine the requirements that apply to his or her research project and the data processed therein.
Does your dataset include the following elements :
- data collected on human beings ?
- personal or sensitive data ?
- medical or health data ?
- data collected from laboratory animals ?
- non-human genetic material ?
- data likely to be covered by intellectual property rights ?
- data produced by a third party ?
- confidential data ?
- data presenting a risk of dual use or misuse ?
If this is the case, a number of ethical and legal requirements must be taken into account. Structures exist within UCLouvain to promote ethics and comply with legal requirements.
You will find more information on this subject in the pages of this section.
