Bruno Van der Linden was research director at the National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS, Belgium). He is also Emeritus Professor at the Economics School of Louvain (Belgium). He studied applied mathematics and economics. From 1990 to 2022, he taught labour economics and evaluation methods. Part of his research has examined the links between income taxation, the labour market and welfare. His work also covers the evaluation of labour market policies. Other research interests include the explanations of heterogeneities in unemployment rates (e.g. spatial ones), the design of unemployment insurance/assistance schemes, and the implications of search and matching frictions. The interactions between environmental crises and policies and labour market outcomes are his most recent research interest.
