Dr. Frank Janssen is full professor of entrepreneurship at the Louvain School of Management of the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) where he runs the interdisciplinary program in entrepreneurship (INEO), ranked nr. 2 worlwide. He was a visiting professor at the University of Lorraine, at EDHEC, at HEC Paris, as well as at the University of Cologne and was a short-term visiting professor at American, Asian, African and European universities. He is a fellow of the European Council for Small Business (ECSB). He is honorary president of the French-speaking International Association for Research in Entrepreneurship and SMEs (AIREPME) and of the Louvain Research Institute in Management and Organizations (LouRIM). He holds master's degrees in law (UCLouvain) and in economics (UCLouvain), an MBA (Western Carolina University, United States) and a Ph.D in management sciences (Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, France). He has received international awards for both teaching and research. He has significant professional experience in the private sector and has worked as an expert for public and private organizations, both nationally and internationally (OECD, EU, etc.).
His research interests are along 4 major axes revolving around the general theme of entrepreneurship: (1) entrepreneurship and society, i.e. impact of gender, culture, religion and institutions; (2) social and sustainable entrepreneurship; (3) entrepreneurial motivations and (4) organizational growth. He (co)authored more than 60 articles in international journals, 10 books, 50 book chapters and more than 150 communications at international conferences. His work has been published in journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Small Business Economics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Small Business Management, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, International Small Business Journal, PLOS One, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research, Personality and Individual Differences, Frontiers in Psychology, etc.
