Géraldine Zeimers est docteure en sciences de la motricité, titulaire d'un master en sciences politiques et professeure en management du sport à l'UCLouvain au sein de la Faculté des sciences de la motricité (FSM) et du LouRIM elle co-dirige le centre de recherche Sport Management UClouvain.  Ce groupe de recherche, officiellement reconnu par le Centre de recherche olympique du Comité olympique international, est en forte interaction avec le réseau sportif national et international. Il collabore régulièrement avec des acteurs clés tels que l’Adeps, le Comité Olympique et Interfédéral Belge (COIB), diverses fédérations sportives et clubs, ainsi qu’avec des organisations internationales comme le Comité olympique international, l’Agence internationale antidopage et plusieurs fédérations internationales. 

Ses recherches portent sur trois axes: la gouvernance stratégique et collaborative, le rôle des organisations sportives dans la transition vers un modèle durable, juste, éthique, et responsable, et les politiques sportives. G. Zeimers a réalisé sa thèse de doctorat sur la responsabilité sociale des fédérations sportives. Ses travaux lui on permis d’explorer les organisations sportives à travers divers cadres théoriques (théorie des organisations, sciences politiques) et méthodologiques (interviews, enquête, Delphi, focus group) dans des contextes géographiques variés (Belgique, Ecosse, UK, USA, Canada, Australie, Inde, Asie), et en mobilisant et contribuant à différentes sous-disciplines du management (écologie sportive, gouvernance, politique). L'ensemble de ces travaux converge vers une ligne directrice claire:  l’étude du mouvement sportif organisé, en particulier les organisations sportives non-marchandes comme les fédérations sportives et les clubs amateurs. Cette stratégie vise à produire des connaissance visant à soutenir la transition systémique du mouvement sportif.
