Présentation | Biography

Wim Decock (1983) est professeur de droit romain, d'histoire du droit et de droit comparé à l'UCLouvain. Il enseigne également l'histoire du droit à temps partiel à l'Université de Liège et est membre associé de l'Académie royale des sciences d'outre-mer (ARSOM) à Bruxelles. Avant de rejoindre l'UCLouvain, Wim Decock était professeur à la KU Leuven. De 2012 à 2014, il a dirigé un groupe de recherche à l'Institut Max Planck d'histoire et de théorie du droit à Francfort. Decock a obtenu son doctorat en droit en 2011 (KU Leuven et Roma Tre) avec une thèse sur les origines théologiques du droit des contrats. Ses recherches couvrent divers aspects de l'interconnexion entre pensées juridique, économique, politique et religieuse à l'ère moderne. Decock a occupé des postes de professeur invité dans de nombreuses universités à travers le monde. En 2022, il a reçu la médaille Max Planck-Humboldt.

Wim Decock (1983) is a professor of Roman law, legal history, and comparative law at UCLouvain. He also teaches legal history part-time at the University of Liège and is an associate member of the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences (ARSOM) in Brussels. Before joining UCLouvain, Wim Decock was a professor at KU Leuven. From 2012 to 2014, he led a research group at the Max Planck Institute of History and Theory of Law in Frankfurt. Decock obtained his doctorate in law in 2011 (KU Leuven and Roma Tre) with a thesis on the theological origins of contract law. His research covers various aspects of the interconnection between legal, economic, political, and religious thought in the modern era. Decock has held visiting professor positions at numerous universities around the world. In 2022, he was awarded the Max Planck-Humboldt Medal.
