Steffen Tietsche (European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, University of Chicago, USA) will give this seminar, organized by the ELI-C department.  

Abstract 

Steffen Tietsche will give a seminar and present original work on stochastic physics parameterization in the sea ice model of ECMWF (LIM/SI3) and its effect in ensemble forecasting for the atmospheric circulation at mid-latitudes. 

He will also discuss the treatment of ocean and sea ice conditions for the newly developed AI-based weather prediction system of ECMWF.
