At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

2.2. Take a step back to enable an in-depth analysis of the speech;
2.6 Effectively use documentary and terminological research tools and techniques;
6.1 Communicate in A, B or C languages in a correct, structured, neutral and articulate manner. Adapt the content and form of communication to the target audience and intended purpose, in accordance with the communication conventions specific to the context;
6.2. Communicate in a way that establishes trust with clients and audience members, using the appropriate tone and attitude;

Specific learning outcomes on completion of this teaching unit
On completion of this teaching unit the student is able to:
  • Apply analytical methods to structure his/her speech. Using his/her notes, deliver a 7- to 8-minute speech on a current affairs topic, a social issue or a prepared specialised topic.
  • Prepare to interpret a specialised subject by researching and assimilating the relevant Dutch terminology efficiently.bution of the teaching unit to learning outcomes of the programme Translate the message expressed in French into Dutch in a correct, clear and structured manner.
  • Follow the communication standards specific to the context.
  • Apply his/her skills to produce different types of speech.

Content
The course aims to provide students with an initial set of skills in consecutive interpretation from French into Dutch.
The objectives of this course are based on the following learning objectives
  • to transmit the original message expressed in language A correctly into Dutch;
  •  to update one's knowledge of the Dutch language;
  • to master and mobilize methods of analysis and to demonstrate a spirit of synthesis in order to distinguish the essential from the accessory in the discourse, respecting the nuances;
  • to develop the ability to distantiate and analyze a speech in depth;
  • communicate in such a way as to establish a climate of trust with his/her listeners;
  • demonstrate flexibility and alertness to adapt to new and immediate communication situations.
In the framework of this course, particular attention is being paid to the following objectives : to bring the student to  :
  1. mobilize his/her listening skills and in-depth analysis of the speech in order to identify its structure, logical links and sequences, to capture its essence, to distinguish the essential from the accessory, to distantiate;
  2. restore the message thus understood in a coherent and structured way in a correct, precise, fluid Dutch adapted to the register of the speech delivered in French.
The exercises proposed (based mainly on general current affairs and social issues) will enable the student to reinforce his or her mastery of the Dutch lexicon, syntax and phraseology.
Teaching methods
Face-to-face with the possibility of distance learning.
Evaluation methods
Continuous formative assessment (not graded) and certificative assessment (examination) at the end of the term.
Examination :
  • 1st session : January ;
  • 2nd session: August/September.
The grade for the certification assessment (examination) is deliberated and determined collegially by the two teachers who give this course.
