In the face of ecological, energy, and social crises, sufficiency is gradually emerging as a key lens in current reflections on the socio-ecological transition. Beyond a technical response, this concept offers an opportunity to deeply question our ways of living, our collective structures, and the ethics of our various interactions.
Understanding, analyzing, and implementing sufficiency requires bringing together multiple perspectives—technical, legal, economic, psychological, political, philosophical, sociological, and others—in order to avoid partial interpretations and to co-construct coherent, contextualized, and actionable approaches.
Louvain4Sufficiency is an interdisciplinary network at UCLouvain dedicated to the study and implementation of sufficiency. It aims to bring these areas of expertise together, foster dialogue, and identify shared research questions.
