UCLouvain and KU Leuven celebrate 600 years of history in London
uclouvain |
To mark the 600th anniversary of UCLouvain and KU Leuven, the two sister universities brought together a large part of their expatriate alumni community in London. Mainly made up of Belgian graduates living in the UK, these alumni turned out for an exceptional evening of sharing, academic pride and international influence.
The event was held at the Residence of the Belgian Ambassador to the UK. Our host, H.E. Mr. Jeroen Cooreman, warmly welcomed the participants, in the presence of the Rector of UCLouvain, Pre Françoise Smets, the Délégué général Wallonie-Bruxelles, Mr. Motonobu Kasajima, and Professor Hervé Jeanmart.
Today, almost 900 UCLouvain alumni live in and around London. This particularly dynamic community brings together all generations and a wide variety of backgrounds, including engineering, economics, finance and social sciences.
The evening's warm exchanges revealed a strong desire to structure the community and create a UCLouvain Alumni Chapter in London in 2026. A promising prospect for further strengthening the ties between graduates and their university.
The Alumni team of the Louvain Foundation would like to express its sincere thanks to all those who attended this celebration.
