Sylvie Sarolea est une juriste belge, professeure à l’UCLouvain depuis 2005, spécialiste des droits humains et du droit des migrations. Elle a fondé et coordonne l’équipe EDEM, réunissant 38 chercheur·euses sur trois continents. Si l’approche y est juridique, les analyses mobilisent aussi d’autres disciplines, avec une méthode empirique et de terrain. Elle coordonne la Clinique juridique Rosa Parks et le réseau international Mercator. Avocate au Barreau du Brabant wallon, elle collabore étroitement avec les acteur·ices de terrain et des partenaires internationaux, notamment dans les pays du Sud. Ses recherches portent sur les mobilités humaines, les migrations climatiques, la justice migratoire, l’équité Nord-Sud et les justices transitionnelles. Elle promeut une gouvernance migratoire équitable, fondée sur des politiques agiles, réciproques et réflexives, intégrant l’agentivité des migrant·es.
Sylvie Sarolea is a Belgian lawyer and professor at UCLouvain since 2005, specialising in human rights and migration law. She founded and coordinates the EDEM team, bringing together 38 researchers on three continents. While the approach is legal, the analyses also draw on other disciplines, using an empirical and field-based method. She coordinates the Rosa Parks Legal Clinic and the international Mercator network. A lawyer at the Walloon Brabant Bar, she works closely with actors in the field and international partners, particularly in the Global South. Her research focuses on human mobility, climate migration, migration justice, North-South equity and transitional justice. She promotes equitable migration governance based on agile, reciprocal and reflexive policies that integrate the agency of migrants.
