Access

Louvain-la-Neuve is located off highway E411. From Brussels or Namur, get off at EXIT 8a. You will arrive at a roundabout situated on the National 4.

  • For CORE: turn left on National 4 till the next roundabout (called Baudouin 1er), then turn right (1st output), you are on "Boulevard Baudouin 1er". Go straight till the second traffic circle and turn right (1st output), you are on "Boulevard du Sud". Go straight (pass the traffic circle and the bus station on your left) till parking "Grand'Rue" (stay in the "blue" section at floor -2). Paid parkings are underground. Get off the car park by stairs or elevator, and turn left, you are in Traverse d'Esope. CORE is located on the corner of "Traverse d'Esope" and "Voie du Roman Pays". Louvain-la-Neuve is a pedestrian town.
  • For the Hotel ibis Styles: turn right on National 4 to the next roundabout, take the 3rd output (you are on "Avenue de Lauzelle"); go straight to the roundabout, the Hotel ibis Styles will be on avenue de Lauzelle on your right hand.

Most car parks are now paid parkings (keep your ticket).

  • Free car parks: Car parks available to everyone (pink ones on the map): Boulevard de Lauzelle, Boulevard Baudouin I and Rédimé (nearest to CORE and 10' walking). Map to reach free car parks & CORE.
  • UCL car parks: only for university members and students with UCL card.
  • BE CAREFUL: If you stay in "Zone bleue", do not forget your stationary disk (2 hours max).

You can obtain general information on Louvain-la-Neuve.

  • Brussels National Airport (Zaventem) is linked to Brussels by a train service: 4 trains/hour between 5.30 a.m. and 12 p.m. during weekdays and between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. during week-ends (about 15'). Ask for a ticket to "Louvain-la-Neuve Université" (NOT Louvain or Leuven) and get off at the station Brussels Nord (a 12-15 min. ride). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (trains every half hour, week-end included), get off at Ottignies (about 35') and switch to a train to Louvain-la-Neuve (about 8'). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but it takes more time. CORE is located about 2 min. walk from the railway station (area map).
Timetables are available on the SNCB website.
  • Brussels South Charleroi Airport: To reach Louvain-la-Neuve, take a bus from the airport (Bus A) to reach the Charleroi South station (about 20'). There are 2 buses/hour during weekdays (..h03 and ..h33) and 1 bus/hour during week-ends (..h10). You can purchase a ticket "billet bulk" at the airport's bus stop (door n°2). This ticket is only available at the airport. The bus rides to the Charleroi-Sud railway station, from which you can catch a train for Louvain-la-Neuve (you will have to get off at Ottignies and switch to a train for Louvain-la-Neuve). You should aim between 1h and 1h30 to reach Louvain-la-Neuve. CORE is a 2-minute-walk from the train station (area map).
Timetables are available on the SNCB website.

(For those interested to go from Charleroi Airport to Brussels: there is a shuttle (every 30') that will go to Brussels South station (about 50').)

Starting from any train station in Brussels, ask for a ticket to "Louvain-la-Neuve Université" (NOT Louvain or Leuven). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (trains every half hour, week-end included), get off at Ottignies (about 35 min.) and switch to a train to Louvain-la-Neuve (about 8 min.). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but it takes more time. CORE is located about 2 min. walk from the railway station (more precisely, the station is half undergound):

  • get out of the train, walk back on the platform (opposite to the direction where the train was heading to)
  • take the COVERED stairs at the end of the platform (not the uncovered stairs that you see first)
  • you arrive on a street, turn left, walk 10 to 30 meters (depending on which platform you come from)
  • take the street on the right (Voie du Roman Pays), CORE entrance is at the next corner to the right (a little to the right and a little down)
  • go to floor 1 (by the elevator) to reach the information office (room b.130)

(You can find a small "area" map to reach CORE from the train station here.)

Timetables are available on the SNCB website.
