Learning Languages Through Augmented Reality

Vocabulary Learning with Personalised and Predefined Keyword-Associations in Augmented Reality explores how augmented reality can support foreign-language vocabulary learning by overlaying real-world objects with translated words, keyword associations and AI-generated images. Comparing expert-designed associations with personalised ones created by learners, the study shows that predefined cues often lead to better memorisation outcomes. By highlighting how cognitive effort linked to personalisation can interfere with learning, the paper offers new insights into how AR technologies can be designed to create more effective and engaging language learning experiences.
